Tucked away in the wilderness of the great hinterlands of northern Uganda, approximately halfway between Gulu (47kms from Gulu City) and Kitgum, and about 386kms from the capital city Kampala, Aruu Falls – one that we at OKRA SAFARIS consider to be a marvelous natural wonder, are roaring waterfalls which offer both local and international tourists heading to Kidepo Valley National Park a fantastic fun-filled cooling off stopover. With its roaring white waters crashing violently on the rocks, Aruu Falls is a marvelous natural wonder in its right, even in a country like Uganda that is abundantly “gifted by nature”.
The Falls offer tourists a thrilling experience of hiking through the rocks and having a cold bath or soothing swim at the bottom of the Falls – all against the backdrop of beautiful views and sounds that will remain etched in your memory for a lifetime. Fishing is another popular activity at Aruu Falls, and some tourists have been lucky to catch different species of fish which can, if one so wishes, be BBQ’d over an open wood fire for a great dinner in the wild. Aruu Falls also has a campsite a few meters from the Falls where singing birds and the roaring sound of the Falls provide a natural orchestra to soothe your mind and spirit into a gentle, peaceful, and deep night sleep by the campfire
